Simbang Gabi (Filipino for “Night Masses”) is traditionally a pre-dawn novena of Masses approximately from December 16-24 culminating at Christmas midnight Mass.
Aptly embracing the theme: “Si Kristo, Pag-asa sa Pagkakaisa (Christ, our Hope for Unity), this is the 12th year the Filipino-American communities in the Diocese will celebrate this beautiful tradition that traces its roots back in the Philippines, and now finds its fruits in the lives of Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike in the parishes where the dawn (or evening) Masses are celebrated.
At Simbang Gabi celebrations, attendees wear your Filipiniana and barong, and bring your parish banner and parol (lantern).
