All are invited to join Bishop Michael Barber, SJ, in reconsecrating our nation to Mary, Mother of the Church on May 1 at 11;30 am, through the Cathedral's Facebook page at facebook.com/ctlcathedral.com. We will join the bishops and faithful in the United States and Canada as they consecrate their country to Mary under the same title.

Recently, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, along with 20 healthcare, bioethics, and pro-life organizations, sent a letter urging the Food and Drug Administration to ensure that any vaccine for COVID-19 be developed ethically and with no connection to abortion. The Diocesan Eucharistic Congress originally scheduled for June 20. 2020 will be postponed until next year, June 4-6, 2021. More information will be forthcoming.

Alameda and Contra Costa counties have updated their requirements for people wearing face coverings in public or in business or other settings. In late March, the Office for Mission Advancement launched a new online giving portal to allow parishioners from throughout the Diocese to make donations to their home parish. As of April 15, the portal has seen 582 gifts for a total of $61,808.

The Holy See has asked all dioceses to delay the collection for the Holy Land, which is usually taken up on Good Friday. The Diocese of Oakland will announce the new date for the collection in the future.
