“Catholics helping Catholics” began as the idea of one man at St. Perpetua Parish, who made two phone calls to rally support for those affected by wildfires in Southern California. Parishioners at St. Perpetua launched a fundraising drive to assist St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in Altadena, where many parishioners were severely impacted by the fires. After three weeks of collections, St. Perpetua parishioners presented a check for $24,000 to St. Elizabeth’s pastor, Rev. Modesto Perez, to aid those in need.
